“Who told you that you were naked?” the Lord God asked. Genesis 3:11
And then, the blame game starts. Adam blames Eve. Adam even blames God. Eve blames the serpent. They had everything they could have ever needed—but it wasn’t what they wanted. They knew everything they needed—but it wasn’t what they wanted to know.
It all started with a question. Protection vs. Restriction. They rationalized their truth. They fell victim to the lie they told themselves. They chose the comfort of silence over the responsibility of truth. One moment, one bite, changed everything.
The Fallout
The consequences hit hard:
To Eve: Pain in birthing—something meant to be pure joy is now marked by intense struggle. A struggle for dominance—a “battle of the wills.”
To Adam: The ground is cursed. Thorns and thistles. Instead of easy fruit, he gets “toil.” It’s that feeling of working 60 hours a week and still feeling like you haven’t “made it.”
Then… banished from the Garden. For all my Marvel movie fans out there—this is the moment the screen goes black and the credits roll. It looks like game over.
The Promise in the Garden
But what about the serpent? “I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.” — Genesis 3:15
This obscure verse, right after the fall, changes everything. Right there in the wreckage, God provides a solution. God provides a promise. This is what theologians call the Protevangelium—the very first mention of the Gospel. From that point forward, every sacrifice, every prophecy, and every tear pointed toward Jesus.
The Heel Strike: This represents the Cross. It is painful and it slows you down. Satan thought he had won. He landed a blow, but it wasn’t a kill shot.
The Head Strike: This is the Resurrection. You can survive a wounded heel, but a serpent cannot survive a crushed head.
Jesus’ resurrection was the “kill shot” for the enemy’s authority. On Good Friday, Satan struck Jesus’ heel on the cross, but on Sunday, Jesus struck Satan’s head with His resurrection! As it says in Colossians 2:15, “He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.”
The Rescue is Now
He’s not starting over. He’s renewing and restoring. Your worst chapter? Redeemed. Your deepest regret? Rewritten. Your relationships that fractured? Restored. The earth that groans? Renewed. “And he who was seated on the throne said, ‘Behold, I am making all things new.’” — Revelation 21:5
It’s so easy to look around and see The Fall, but you’re living in the rescue!
“Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith…” — 1 Peter 5:8-9
Here’s what God wants you to know: Be aware! Be vigilant! Your enemy is like a lion, but he’s not the Lion. “Weep no more; behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered.” — Revelation 5:5
You are not alone. You are living in the rescue. “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” — Luke 19:10
