“Cambodia or Bust”. That’s what a whiteboard in my office says, followed by the number of days until I leave. As I am writing this the number is down to just two. The countdown has been as fun, even if it did just start at five. I once read a quote that went something like this, “A journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step”. Those words take on a little extra meaning tonight because in a couple of days I’ll be boarding a plane with a final a destination of Cambodia. So if a journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step does a 8,800 mile journey begin with 8 steps?
I find myself anxious and excited all at the same time. Despite it being my 5th trip leading a team the nervousness and anticipation never goes away. I wouldn’t want it any other way. Each trip is special and amazing in its own way. This year is no different. It’s a small team with age ranges from 21 to 75. I love that about this trip! The power of the spirit during our pre trip meetings has been off the charts. This year we have opportunities to pray for so many people. When we go to Cambodia, it’s like a week long prayer ministry. If you don’t like to pray, you need not apply : ). For a day and a half we will be spending time with a new church in a remote village. One of the activities they would like us to do is pretty much go from home to home and praying for their sick. Paradigm shift! You aren’t in Kansas anymore toto and we couldn’t be more excited. God will show up in his own unique and amazing way and we will have a front row seat. How blessed are we?! I’m reminded of what Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” This is no less true today than it was when it was first spoken and no travel is required. Everyone has mountains that can block what we really need to see. Mountains that prohibit us from the lives that we really desire. See your mountain/s, call them out and in faith move them out of the away. You’ll be amazed what you can see!
Once last thing, please pray for safety and team unity. Also that we would have the eyes and ears to see and hear him, the faith to believe and the courage to act. Blessings!
